A large percentage of our students play a musical instrument and continue in their musical education at Eerde. Musicianship stimulates students in the further development of their musical talents both instrumental and vocal both in groups and individually. Concerts are held often during the school year where students are encouraged to show their musical talents to visitors and parents. Examinations through the Royal School of Music are also offered at Eerde.

Weekend activities

Alongside their regular sporting activities, Boarding Students are encouraged to take part in weekend activities and sports. The weekend activities are intended to encourage friendships, bonding and support while also of course giving each student the opportunity to enjoy Eerde’s beautiful environment in a fun and relaxing way. 

We also organize an annual Winter Sports Vacation, Sailing Vacation and Camping Vacation.  The enchanting grounds of Eerde Castle are also used for our IB-CAS Activities during the year where IB students from other schools join with us to take part in various team activities during the course of one weekend.  One such weekend involves the IB-CAS students setting up a camp in the castle grounds for refugee children to experience life in The Netherlands. 

Eerde’s Student Representative Council organizes party evenings for fun and dancing at various junctures during the school year and also of course our annual Christmas Gala Dinner!  The possibilities for activities at Eerde are endless!

WEH HAVE Parent Support Group

The Parent Support Group plays a key role in pulling together various strands of the Eerde Community. The PSG provides a line of communication between parents, school management, staff members, and our Student Representative Council. We involve parent volunteers in various fun activities for the children throughout the year.

We feel that support from parents is an important element within the PSG, particularly for ex-pat families struggling to adjust to life in a new country. The group is an excellent catalyst for forming new friendships that span international boundaries, as well as providing a forum for discussion on issues that concern our families. All parents are welcome to attend our meetings held each month.

Secondary

The Secondary School is a co-educational school for ages 11-19 divided into 7 groups. IMYC group of form 1, 2 & 3 is based on the British national Key-stage 3 curriculum. IGCSE group of form 4 and 5 is based on the IGCSE curriculum from Cambridge University. IB group 1 & 2 is based on the IB curriculum.

The principle that is adopted as far as course choices is as followed. 'Will the selection carry a student through to the IB course?' Once that has been established then any extras can be incorporated into their programme.

The basic criteria for a course selection is the student's native language, a second language, mathematics, a science, a humanities and art and/or computers, thus forming the basic 6 subjects. Humanities consist of geography, history or economics. Science consists of physics, chemistry and biology.

Native languages taught are English, German, Dutch, Swedish and Russian. Second language courses on offer are English, German, Dutch, French and Spanish. Vertical movement between classes is possible; if, for example, a student shows outstanding expertise in mathematics at form 3, he or she would attend math at the 4th form level. Alternatively, if an IB student wishes to improve on an IGCSE mark, this is possible while the student continues to study for the IB. Students with dyslexia or other recognized barriers to quick effective learning may receive extra help from the special needs teachers.

，学校还会提供机会为学生组织各种课外活动，包括教育参观，集会庆祝等让学生体会到课本以外的知识。

IB 课程：适合16-19岁的学生

概况：

IB课程全称为
国际预科证书课程（International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme,简称IB课程），是由国际文凭组织为高中生设计的为期两年的课程。高中十一和十二年级学生设置的两年制大学预科课程。IB课程不以世界上任何一个国家的课程体系为基础而自成体系，广泛吸收了当代许多发达国家主流课程体系的优点，涵盖了其主要的核心内容。因此IB课程体系即具有与世界各国主流教育课程体系之间的兼容性，又有自己教育理念发展下的独特性。受到全世界最高学府的广泛认可。

IB课程分配在六个基础学科领域里，学生既要学习科学科目，又要学习人文科目。所有参加文凭项目的学生，必须在这六个学科组中每组选一门课程进行学习。每一门课程又分为高级课程和普通课程。

IB课程是富有挑战性并享有较高承认度的较难课程，它为学生进入大学学习并取得国际学士学位证书做准备。学生获得这个证书后就取得了直接进入大学学习的资格， IB课程按深度开展，学生的学习将不断深化。 

The IB diploma

In order to obtain the IB diploma, candidates must choose six subjects for examination. Usually they have studied these subjects during their previous 2-year course. Three subjects must be studied at a Higher Level (HL), the remaining levels at Standard Level (SL). More material must be covered at the Higher Level. The candidate must choose one subject from each of the six following subject areas:以下六个学科领域：

All subjects are available at a Standard or Higher Level. Many combinations are possible. The career counsellor and teachers will help the candidate to select a package.
